This is a very precise observation. As the load-bearing and supporting structure of a PV system, the performance of the surface coating on PV mounting structures directly affects the service life of the entire system. Black is one of the most mainstream color choices.

Core Performance Requirements

PV mounting structures are exposed to outdoor conditions for long periods, enduring sunlight, rain, salt spray (in coastal areas), temperature fluctuations, and other challenges. Therefore, their powder coatings must meet the following key performance criteria:

Superior Corrosion Resistance: This is the most core performance requirement. The coating must pass a Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) test for over 1000 hours, or even meet higher standards, to prevent rusting or corrosion of the mounting structure base material (mostly aluminum alloy or steel).

Excellent Weather Resistance: It should resist long-term UV radiation to avoid fading, chalking, cracking, or other issues on the coating. Generally, after a 2000-hour artificial accelerated aging test (QUV), the color difference and gloss change of the coating must stay within allowable ranges.

Good Physical and Mechanical Properties: These include high adhesion (reaching Grade 0 or Grade 1 in the cross-cut test), impact resistance (withstanding a certain level of impact without peeling), and wear resistance. These properties address minor collisions and friction during installation and use.

High and Low Temperature Resistance: The coating must remain stable within the extreme temperature range of -40℃ to 80℃, without softening, embrittlement, or peeling.

Main Applications and Values

Protecting the Base Material and Extending Mounting Structure Lifespan: By forming a dense, uniform coating on the surface of the mounting structure, it isolates the base material from corrosive media such as air, moisture, and salt. This extends the service life of the mounting structure from several years to over 20 years, matching the design life of the PV system.

Optimizing Appearance and Recognition: The black coating has a uniform, attractive appearance, which enhances the overall visual uniformity of the PV power station. Meanwhile, black is a neutral color that blends better with the surrounding environment (such as rooftops and the ground).

Enhancing Environmental Adaptability of Mounting Structures: For different application scenarios (such as coastal areas, plateaus, and deserts), the coating formula can be adjusted to enhance specific properties (like salt spray resistance and UV resistance), ensuring the stable operation of the mounting structure in various harsh environments.

Meeting Safety and Environmental Standards: High-quality black powder coatings contain no solvents and have extremely low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions, complying with environmental requirements. Additionally, the coating itself is non-flammable and does not release toxic substances, meeting the safety standards of power stations.
